What You Can Do With This Economic Information

Unfortunately, the media treats long-term economic information like it’s short-term data…. ‘sell now’, ‘buy now’, and ‘the market is up/down today because of last month’s XYZ data’. After a while – when it’s the only kind of message they get – investors start to respond as directed, making short-term decisions based on long-term information.

The problem is, that “I have to respond now” mentality keeps investors’ heads spinning, and ultimately does nothing for stock portfolios.

It gets even worse, however. That long-term economic data? It actually can be useful to investors as bull market/bear market indications. Sadly though, that long-term guidance is buried by all the short-term noise that follows each and every data nugget.

The Bluegrass Portfolio Management economic data monitor takes the short-term nonsense out of long-term data, and repackages it as what it’s supposed to be… long-term clues. The net result is stronger returns, since investors know when not to flinch.

Bottom line? No investment-worthy trend develops in one week, or even in one month. Our look at economic data puts it all into the proper perspective…. less the hype.

And where applicable, we’ve actually tested a great deal of economic data as long-term buy/sell indicators. Those signals are shared with readers when possible, in an effort to either dispel investing myths, or confirm common assumptions.
