If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well my friends, it's a duck. I think the same can be said about a recession. Even though our friends down at the National Bureau of Economic Research aren't saying it yet, I'll go ahead and go on record ...I think we're already in a recession. (Insert gasp here.)

Before you start cursing at me or stick your head in the oven, let me also say that this isn't inherently a reason to sell stocks. Well, it might be a reason to sell some stocks, but I think it could be a reason to buy other stocks. More on that in a second.

We've been getting this question a lot lately, so today we'd like to address it once and for all. Will the mass exodus from the workforce that all the baby-boomers are starting to make create so much selling pressure on pension plans and mutual funds that the market won't survive it? In a word, no.

Active ImageFor those of you who are more than passive market watchers, you'll probably already know that new home sales plunged in February. The Commerce Department announced that the number of newly-built houses sold in February was 1.08 million. In January, that figure was 1.2 million. The 10.5 percent difference between the two was the biggest single-month drop in the last nine years.
