Earnings Calendar, Scoreboard (No Wonder Stocks are Struggling)
The pace of earnings announcements is still slowing down, though enough have yet to post numbers that we still want to keep tabs on what’s on tap for the coming week. Here are the biggies.
By the way, this earnings season actually turned out to be a disappointment. About 58.8% of companies actually beat (under the norm of 66%), while roughly 33.2% missed estimates (over the norm of about 25%). Analysts appear to gave gotten a little too aggressive following last quarter’s numbers, which looked compelling based on year-over-year comparisons. [By the way, Alcoa's announcement on April 12th is the official beginning of earnings season, though some companies did report before that.]
